In 1968, John Milkovisch, a retired upholsterer for the Southern Pacific Railroad, began creating unique landscaping features on his property with thousands of marbles, rocks, and metal pieces. Next, he began siding his house with aluminum beer cans. Over the next 18 years, he adorned his house with approximately 50,000 cans in a monument to recycling.
