THURGOOD
by George Stevens Jr.
Location: New Center Park (2998 E Grand Blvd.)
Previews: September 23
Opening Night: September 24
Closing: October 10, 2021
DPT will open its season with Thurgood by George Stevens Jr. in partnership with Chautauqua Theater Company (CTC). Thurgood is a compelling portrait of the first African-American justice to serve on the Supreme Court of the United States. Thurgood guides us from Justice Marshall’s childhood in Baltimore, to his central role in the civil rights movement, to his historic victory in Brown vs. Board of Education, and, ultimately, to his appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court. Introducing us to the people that influenced him along the way, Thurgood is a one-man show about a true American hero and the pursuit of a more perfect union.
The preview performance on September 23, 2021 will also be DPT’s first ever Pay-What-You-Will night.
