The Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) has announced an expansive and dynamic 2026–2027 Broadway and Cabaret season, promising a compelling mix of blockbuster musicals, critically acclaimed new works, beloved revivals, and engaging theatrical experiences for audiences of all ages.
Blending spectacle with storytelling, the upcoming season reflects what DCPA leadership describes as the very essence of Broadway. Executive Director John Ekeberg emphasized the importance of live theater’s shared experience, noting that the lineup captures “the profound emotional journeys that only live theatre can provide,” while celebrating the unique energy that fills a room when the curtain rises.
The season features an impressive roster of productions, including several major touring hits and three of the five nominees for Best Musical at the 2025 Tony Awards. Among the highlights are Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, THE BOOK OF MORMON, BOOP! The Musical, The Great Gatsby, Buena Vista Social Club, Death Becomes Her, and the Tony Award-winning Maybe Happy Ending.
In addition to its Broadway offerings, DCPA Cabaret will present its own productions and special engagements, anchored by What a Glorious Feeling!, a backstage musical centered on the creation of Singin’ in the Rain. The cabaret lineup is further enriched with returning audience favorites such as Waitress, Jersey Boys, Legally Blonde – The Musical, MAMMA MIA!, and A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical.
The season opens in grand fashion with a newly reimagined production of Beauty and the Beast, marking Disney’s first North American tour of the musical in over 25 years. Featuring the iconic score by Alan Menken and Tim Rice, along with dazzling new sets and costumes, the production aims to introduce the classic tale to a new generation while delighting longtime fans.
Returning by popular demand is THE BOOK OF MORMON, the nine-time Tony Award-winning musical comedy that continues to captivate audiences worldwide with its irreverent humor and sharp satire. Meanwhile, BOOP! The Musical brings the legendary Betty Boop to the stage in a colorful, contemporary adventure filled with music, romance, and nostalgia.
Another major highlight is The Great Gatsby, a lavish musical adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel, transporting audiences to the opulence and excess of the Roaring Twenties. The season also includes Buena Vista Social Club, a soulful journey through Cuban music and memory, and Death Becomes Her, a darkly comedic musical about vanity, rivalry, and immortality.
Closing out the Broadway subscription offerings is Maybe Happy Ending, a six-time Tony Award-winning musical praised for its originality and emotional depth, exploring themes of connection and humanity in unexpected ways.
Beyond the subscription series, the season includes a wide range of special engagements and family-friendly programming. Highlights include Bluey’s Big Play, a live adaptation of the popular children’s series; the high-energy return of Riverdance celebrating its 30th anniversary; and seasonal favorites like ELF The Musical and Mannheim Steamroller Christmas.
With its blend of crowd-pleasing favorites, innovative new works, and diverse storytelling, the DCPA’s 2026–2027 season positions itself as one of its most exciting offerings in recent years. Subscriptions for the full season are now available, inviting audiences to experience the magic of live performance across a year filled with unforgettable theatrical moments.
